Paris, 2000: Bua Butsaya, an expert in Ayutthaya-era history, is in Paris searching for Thai historical evidence within the archives of French missionaries.
Bangkok, 2000: Tutiya, Emile, and Paul—three foreign businessmen—have established industrial factories in Bangkok. While cruising the Chao Phraya River on a yacht near Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), they inadvertently sail into a "time overlap" zone.
Suddenly, they find themselves amidst a fleet of 200–300 warships heading toward Wichai Prasit Fort. They witness a fierce battle between the soldiers on the fort and those on the ships. As they pass through, they see a mysterious man with a large silk shawl draped over his shoulder, looking profoundly sorrowful.
When the yacht finally emerges from the time rift, the three men discover the very same silk shawl caught on their boat—tangible proof that they weren't drunk or dreaming.
Back in Paris, Bua Butsaya follows the news from Thailand via the internet and newspapers. Upon discovering the strange reports involving these three foreigners, she immediately resigns from her job and rushes back to Thailand.
