Synopsis
Thong Chan (Anus Lapanich) is a police officer sent to a remote mountain village to investigate a drug trafficking route smuggling methamphetamine from a neighboring country into Thailand. He arrives with another female officer, Sawitri (Jamie Bouher), pretending to be husband and wife while working undercover as the village school’s new teachers.
Upon arriving in the village, Thong Chan keeps hearing the name “Ai Thiang” and assumes it refers to a local tough guy. But when he finally meets “Ai Thiang,” he discovers that the person is actually a young woman named Klai Thiang (Isariya Saisanan), the daughter of Thiang the undertaker (Chai Muangsing). Since both father and daughter share the same name, villagers call the daughter “Ai Thiang,” while the father is referred to as Undertaker Thiang.
Ai Thiang is no ordinary girl. She is the unofficial boss of the village. Besides helping her father handle funerals, her main job is organizing all forms of entertainment events in the village. Any performance or concert held there must go through her. She arranges everything from logistics to backup dancers and extras drawn from the villagers themselves. However, despite her sharp eye for talent and deep knowledge of music, she refuses to sing publicly, always giving the same excuse: she is afraid of becoming famous.
Ai Thiang also runs underground gambling dens from time to time, but the local police have never managed to catch her because her loyal gang of village youths always keeps watch. The local police inspector, Thanู (Surachai Sombatcharoen), appears to ignore her illegal side activities because she secretly acts as his informant, helping track down criminals, illegal loggers, murderers, and fugitives crossing the border.
Still, Ai Thiang has rivals. One of them is Nong (Jack Thanapol), the son of the village headman, who cannot stand how capable and respected she is. To make matters worse, Nong’s younger sister Noi (Savika Chaiyadej) develops feelings for Ai Thiang, believing she is a tomboy. Meanwhile, another man named Suriya (Rung Suriya), the son of a neighboring village headman, is also secretly in love with Ai Thiang.
Only Inspector Thanู knows the truth about Thong Chan and Sawitri’s undercover mission. He tells Thong Chan that if he wants information about the village, he should get close to Ai Thiang because she knows everyone’s secrets. As a result, Thong Chan tries to befriend her. But Ai Thiang becomes suspicious of him and Sawitri. After spying on them, she notices they do not behave like a real married couple and mistakenly concludes that they are human traffickers luring young village girls into prostitution in the city. She even fears she herself may be a target because of her beauty and singing talent.
Determined to expose them, Ai Thiang constantly interferes with Thong Chan’s investigation, making it difficult for him to uncover the drug trafficking network. The more he avoids her, the more convinced she becomes that he is hiding something.
One day, Thong Chan and Sawitri sneak into the forest to spy on the drug dealers, but Ai Thiang accidentally reveals their presence. The traffickers discover them, forcing all three to flee deep into the jungle. Along the way, Sawitri becomes seriously ill with jungle fever, making escape nearly impossible. During this ordeal, Ai Thiang realizes she misunderstood Thong Chan all along.
Knowing they cannot all escape together, Thong Chan urges Ai Thiang to return to the village and bring help. Though reluctant to leave them behind, she finally agrees and escapes through the forest in tears — the first time anyone has ever seen her cry. She informs Inspector Thanู and even volunteers to guide the officers back into the jungle despite the danger.
A violent clash erupts during the rescue mission, and Ai Thiang is shot while protecting Thong Chan and Sawitri. She is rushed to the hospital along with the others. Noi and Suriya fight over who should care for her, but the person who ultimately stays by her side is Thong Chan himself. He wants to repay her for risking her life to save them.
However, Ai Thiang misunderstands his kindness, believing he only feels indebted to her rather than genuinely loving her. Heartbroken, she secretly leaves the hospital and hides in the cemetery where she feels safest. Inspector Thanู realizes that Thong Chan truly loves her, so he devises a plan by organizing a fake farewell party for Thong Chan and Sawitri, claiming they are returning to Bangkok because Sawitri is pregnant.
Undertaker Thiang tells Ai Thiang about the farewell gathering, prompting her to secretly attend for one last look at Thong Chan. But when she arrives, Inspector Thanู and her father drag her onto the stage, where Thong Chan directly asks whether she loves him. Furious and embarrassed, she protests that he already has a wife. Thong Chan then reveals that Sawitri is only his coworker, and the father of her unborn child should come forward himself. At that moment, Nong steps up and admits he is the father.
Thong Chan asks Ai Thiang once more if she loves him. Too shy to answer, she stays silent until he playfully sings to coax the truth out of her. Eventually, she admits her feelings, and the farewell party transforms into a double wedding celebration for Thong Chan and Ai Thiang, as well as Nong and Sawitri. Meanwhile, Noi and Suriya cry together over losing Ai Thiang, finally understanding each other’s heartbreak. From then on, the villagers rename the place from “Mountain Village” to “Klai Thiang Village.”
